Signs of Summer

Yesterday, I watched a man teach his son how to use a camera - placing the Canon into his hands, and telling him when and how to press the buttons.  I was surrounded by beauty, by people with cameras and children smiling at butterflies - but this one image, a man and his son, is what made me smile.  It made me remember what I loved about photography, as I watched his grandmother photograph him with the camera - the ability to capture a moment, to help remember it forever.

Somehow, this week I've turned into a photography blog and nothing else.  I'm blaming it on Sherlock, and the beautiful flowers grown at Longwood Gardens - the summer days that I just can't get enough of, and that are ending within the next couple of weeks.

.... that's a good enough excuse, right?

A New Little Friend

Blog...I'd like to introduce you to Sherlock.  My adorable little boy got here yesterday, and I've barely stopped fawning over him since.  Can you blame me?

Take Me Back to Where the Hills Roll Green

One year ago today, my brother and I were traipsing around Ireland.
We were standing over the tallest cliffs we'd ever been to, and marveling at how incredible it all looked.  A man was standing amidst the tourists, playing the flute for whoever would listen, and I felt like I was on top of the world.  I was seeing just how green the earth can be, and pinching myself to make sure it wasn't all a dream.

Today, I am suffering withdraw.  If I'm being completely honest, I've been suffering withdraw since Sunday morning, when I realized that it had been a year since I left for Ireland.
So I hope you'll understand if I just scatter a few pictures here from what I was doing a year ago...

4th of July, as Told by My Camera

moments later, that giraffe was trying to say hi to my roommate.  And in the process, making her scream bloddy murder.
dude was rocking a neck brace, because apparently he likes to pluck all his feathers off in his spare time
you can't convince me otters aren't one of the most adorable creatures on earth
My 4th of July, in the form of a mini photo-album.
How did you celebrate?  And if you're not from America, how was your regularly scheduled Thursday?

Almost Luck of the Irish

Sometimes, on a rainy day it's best to cheer myself up with some pictures of a clover on my porch.
And spaghetti-os.  Those are necessary too.

My Terrarium

I hold the belief that it is, on occasion, completely acceptable to write a post that does not actually include any "writing".
This is one of those posts.

Yesterday, my friend gave me this beautiful terrarium as an apartment-warming gift :)
I am in love with it.

Some Photos...

Today the sky is a cloudy mess, raining all over everyone as they make their way to classes.
But summer is just around the corner....
